Whatcha playing!

I 100%ed Astro Bot in just a couple days lol. But really outstanding. Up there with Rayman origins as favorite platformer.

Now I'm kind of waiting for more stuff to be out. Super excited for the new Zelda and cautiously optimistic for the sh2 remake

If you have any recommendations for games or series for the next post(s), please feel free to DM me or add it in a comment here (no guarantees of course).

What have you all been playing!

I am back on my SMW ROM hack kick. Recently completed a plumber for all seasons. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in ROM hacks. Great traditional style hack with beautiful art

Looking at reviews, it seems like a common criticism of the second game is that it's mostly a repeat of the first with a few additions, but also without fixing any of its issues.

To people who have played both: is it worth playing the second one? I already have the first, as it was included in a bundle, but never played it.

Tune in on October 19.

As the narrator for Disco Elysium: The Final Cut, Lenval Brown recorded 350,000 words of dialogue. His warm, crackling tone is one you'll associate with Disco Elysium forever after playing it, though he's also popped up elsewhere—like in retro shooter Ultrakill, city builder Republic of Pirates, and as the host of our own documentary series, Tales from the Hard Drive.

To register for Voice of the Narrator: A Disco Elysium livestream, you'll need to donate to a gofundme to help Dr. Alaa Abu Musa and his family evacuate the Gaza Strip. (Suggested donations are $US60.) Then fill out the registration form linked at the Workshops 4 Gaza event page. The livestream will take place on October 19, from 3–5pm EST.

If it's from Valve, I must know. I must... understand the future of multiplayer gaming." This Dr Disrespect tweet is a screenshot being shared by @IntelDeadlock on twitter. Their post includes text that says, "Dr Disrespect is playing Deadlock today! Please avoid queue if you are a minor". I have been getting into emulation though there is no emulation community here to talk about it. I assume emulation discussion in gaming is welcome any thoughts?

I am making my way through Yakuza series right now and while playing 5 I realized that I am not that invested into the game’s combat, so I turned it to easy and that just streamlined the combat so much for me. I would recommend to maybe try Yakuza 0 on normal at first and then just switch it to easy if you feel like the gameplay might be dragging on.

Recently I've been looking into expanding the number of shmups in my library.

Which games should I prioritise getting? Any that I should avoid?

BEUC [the European Consumer Organisation] and 22 of its member organisations from 17 countries have filed a complaint on 12 September 2024 to the European Commission and the network of consumer protection Authorities (CPC-Network) to denounce several deceptive practices by leading video game companies (Activision Blizzard, Electronic Arts, Epic Games, Mojang Studios, Roblox Corporation, Supercell and Ubisoft) marketing popular games (such as Fortnite, EA Sports FC 24, Minecraft, Clash of Clans and others) and affecting millions of European consumers.

The Norwegian Consumer Council's @finnmyrstad posted a thread about it on Mastodon:

2/ 🕹 According to our analysis, these companies are using misleading tactics that do not comply with the EU rules on unfair commercial practices. In particular we identified that:

🎰 Gamers cannot see the real cost of digital items, leading to overspending.

💵 Companies’ claims that gamers prefer in-game premium currencies are wrong.

⚖ Consumers are often denied their rights when using premium in-game currencies.

🚸 Children are vulnerable to these manipulative tactics.

Up to 6, sharing your shareable games library

Adult and child accounts, limit child accounts, approve and pay for child buy requests,

Intended for close household family; can't join a different one until one year after joining

If a family member gets banned for cheating while playing your copy of a game, you (the game owner) will also be banned in that game. Other family members are not impacted.

Evidently the original source is this Mythical Kitchen video. Those Last Meal interviews go surprisingly hard.

850M$ revenue on 70M$ budget sounds a huge success.

Not a particularly interesting article necessarily, but I wanted to share this as the list is actually quite good in my opinion, and it's laid out very nicely. It's one page that's very easy to scroll through. Might find some things you havent played!
