Is there a way to just view the posts from the communities I'm subscribed to? I thought I saw someone mention that it was possible to make that the default view, but I can't see anything in the settings which looks like it would do that.

I've just done it. Tap explore in the bottom Tab bar. Under "feeds" you can switch to "subscribed" and if you use the 3 dots next to subscribed you can set it to default.
