Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.

Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.

I'm a bit lost. Is there a way to see the included Matrix username when visitng someones profile? Or is that not the point at all, and I'm misunderstanding something?

in lemmy at least in the user profile you can see send secure message - if it is there (meaning - user has added matrix username) - you can click and send message via matrix

Alright, that makes sense. Something didn't work then, because I can't find anything about secure messaging on the particular user I wanted to message.

On that note, the app also crashes if I click send a message, but only with that user. Weird.

not all the users put their matrix username in Lemmy. also - at least in desktop when clicking send secure message it brings up matrix client for me (element)

I know this user has their Matrix in here, which why I was so confused.

Maybe I'll try the site in the browser, just to see.

You can check my profile too if you need another user to check that has a matrix account on their profile

No secure message option either. Yeah, it's definitely an issue on my end, my own account doesn't know what to do

Yeah, the secure message button is there in my browser if I'm logged in when viewing your account. its with the block user and send message buttons, just below your profile pic and username, and above the "about me" information

I'm not seeing the option to send a message through jerboa either, but I haven't checked to see if its there when I view through a browser

Achtung: Private Nachrichten sind in Lemmy nicht verschlüsselt. Bitte erstelle einen Element.io Account für sicheren Nachrichtenverkehr.

Alright, so using lemmy.ml in the browser, this message telling me to create an Element.io account pops up when choosing to dm.

So evidently, my Lemmy account doesn't seem to know what to do with my catgirl.cloud account. Unless I input that incorrectly into my profile.

The matrix username to add here should look like this, in my case?

@myusername:catgirl.cloud

Right?

at least this is the format i am using.

Ah, so you have your Matrix on here? Because when I go to your profile, the secure message option doesn't show up either.

So paired with that message in the browser, the issue is on my end, huh.

i don't see secure messaging in your profile neither :)

dang it

Guess I'll have to comment people my username if I want them to contact me until I figure out the problem. Oh well

maybe you could just add it to your bio ;)

True

Sometimes, I just think in ways that are complicated beyond anything that makes sense
