the idea is to use your soon to be former job as a fallback option.

I'm a nurse looking for an office job, but it can be it turns out to be something I don't like (never worked an office job). I was thinking of giving it 1 to 2 years to see how it is.

If I have to use my current bedside position as a fallback I don't want to change specialties, cause that would mean being treated like a newbie all over again, something I want to avoid.

I get that people are constantly looking for better options and 2 years might be a long time. The current coworkers that make the job amenable might also leave for greener pastures before I come back, if ever.

I don't know shit about politics. All I know is that in the UK the Labour party won, and the Conservative party lost.

I read some protestors are protesting against racism. What is this about? Protesting against new party that just won? I thought the Labour party was left-wing, meaning they are more on the social-equality side? I'm lost.

I know MediaBiasFactCheck is not a be-all-end-all to truth/bias in media, but I find it to be a useful resource.

It makes sense to downvote it in posts that have great discussion -- let the content rise up so people can have discussions with humans, sure.

But sometimes I see it getting downvoted when it's the only comment there. Which does nothing, unless a reader has rules that automatically hide downvoted comments (but a reader would be able to expand the comment anyways...so really no difference).

What's the point of downvoting? My only guess is that there's people who are salty about something it said about some source they like. Yet I don't see anyone providing an alternative to MediaBiasFactCheck...

I understand why anime takes place in high school a lot, because its intended audience is high schoolers.

What is it with maids? And specifically the "French maid" type? Here in the US, maids are not like that at all. It's usually a Mexican lady in a minivan who comes by once a month or something. Additionally, they're not super common.

In anime, they usually seem to be a cross between live in maid and nanny. That wouldn't be too weird if it weren't so popular a trope. Is that common in Japan? I'm not the biggest consumer of Japanese media, but I can't recall IRL maids besides the maid cafes.

5 months ago, in late February, Adin Ross and a bunch of idiot, barely not children, friends, shot the shit out of his CyberTruck with an AR 15.

To Adin's shock and dismay, this royally fucked up his lowpoly status symbol, with many shots going fully through.

Adin can be heard and seen begging, demanding Elon send him a new one.

Its completely absurd.

Ok, so other media are pointing out how this is probably an illegal amount for a donation to a Presidential candidate, how Trump sitting down and doing a stream with multiple 'influencers' is extremely problematic for many reasons...

But what I want to know is ...

... Is this a newly purchased CyberTruck? How could that be, given that the waitlist is huge? Did Elon personally order Tesla to speedrun fixing up or replacing Adin's CyberTruck?

Did XQC have one?

... Or did Adin Ross shoot the fuck out of a CyberTruck, get bits of it repaired, then wrap it in a wrap featuring the image of a triumphant Trump having barely missed being headshot from an assasin, and then give a vehicle full of bullet holes, covered up by a cheap wrap, to Trump?

I feel like I am losing my mind trying to comprehend the fractal layers of insane that would be to do.

Does anyone who maybe knows more about Adin or XQC know more details?

I really, really want it to be the case that I exist in a universe where something so profoundly stupid did not actually occur.

What if multiple successful donations happen as a result? Does that make you a lifesaver?

I'd assume we want everyone to survive and carry on with their lives equally. Yet, if we can't, there's a choice of distributing our doctors' time and equipments towards some of patients rather than others.

Policies deciding that choice in general, if implemented, naturally smell like death. That'd organically lead to some marks for a cut-off, the obvious one is the age - like excluding 70+ patients from active treatment and supporting them as they are instead, while prefering younger folks, because they have more projected lifespan ahead of them (AND MORE VALUE TO THE REGIIIIME!). Then, there is a game of chances for recovery. Then there are biases against lung, stomack or skin cancer patients who neglected their bodies themselves etc etc etc. And we don't even touch the problem of these policies being sexist, racist or otherwise based on unscientific grounds.

But if not over-generalized policies that can mark some categories as not-worthy patients, we'd then assume the power to decide is in the hands of individual doctors who do have the problems in the last paragraph, but with individual power to decide as well as individual responsibility for that (but they can ask patients themselves if they want it?).

My question is: should we even seek a universal answer to that dillema? What is the beacon to navigate us here, balancing general policies and individual responsibilities? How'd we personally judge a party who'd make such decision (+ if we are their patient and we don't want to die)?

I've tried my best not to suggest any answer and not to instigate any sort of an infight, but if it's not ok, please delete it.

Weird scenario, but I wanna do a treat every hour for 12 hours.

Anyone know of a good feeder or something that can do that? I could buy two 6 slot feeders and have them pick up after each other, but that seems a bit absurd.

For example on wikipedia for Switzerland it says the country has an area of 41,285 km². Does this take into account that a lot of that area is actually angled at a steep inclination, thus the actual surface area is in effect larger than what you would expect when looking onto a map in satellite view?

Car insurance is relatively simple. I shop around, telling them how much coverage I want. They request my driving history, and give me a quote. At any time, I can shop around and change insurance policies without any problems. Once it's time to collect payment, it's a relatively simple matter. What makes health insurance so difficult, controlling, unreliable, and expensive? For example, with health insurance:

• Can only shop during a specific enrollment period

• Policies are so complex, the vast majority of the population can't understand them

• It's commonly provided in part by the employer because buying a policy otherwise is prohibitively expensive

• Insurance companies are notorious for denying payments

I understand that weather on TV can’t be hyperlocally accurate. But a weather app on my phone has my exact GPS coordinates. Why can’t it tell me exactly when a rain cloud will be passing over my location?

It’s gotten to the point where I just use precipitation maps to figure out my rain chances for the day.

The hourly forecast is mostly useless because it’s not a chance % but a % of the area that will be raining.
