It's like 99% of the Christians I've met have never read the Bible, or think no-one else has ever read it:

In Luke 6:29-30 "If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back."

Luke 6:35 "love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back."

Luke 16:13 "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."

Mark 10:21 "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

Matthew 25:41-45: Jesus said “‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons. For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. … Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’ And [I] will answer, ‘… when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’”

I am an atheist partly because in my single digit youth I could already see the gluttony and self-serving nature of my church building gilded shrines as people went hungry. I've since embraced more cogent reasons, but Jesus Christ as a person or a fictionial character was a communist humanist that I would like to believe I'd enjoy the company of.

Modern American Conservatives would crucify him again if he returned espousing the same lessons and condemnations.
