I want to be clear, the way the community is named is not, "look at this sexy young woman" it is, "look at this nude of what looks like a high school girl, isn't that hot?"
Also, this is more of cultural problem that needs some societal retraining to fix for real.
I fully agree with your last statement. It's not just women either -- I'm gay, and I see it as a problem in my demographic as well. For some reason, a shocking number of people really, really want to sexualize extremely young looking people. Even outside of communities dedicated to things like this, it's extremely prevalent in things like porn. I've got no problem with porn in theory, but so much of it seems centered around fantasies involving massive power imbalances / predatory behavior.
I don’t exactly expect that a smallish internet fourm can fix the fetishization of high school children across the english speaking world, but we absolutely can effect this preticular lemmy community.
While I also have it blocked, it is really hard to say recommend lemmy to friends when even from beehaw you have “i can’t believe it’s not child porn” making up a bunch of /all.
