I worked for a company 20 years ago that had already been trying to bring synthetic blood to market for 20 years.

Far as I know they still haven’t released it.

It’s really, really hard to do.

Most of it is not approved for use in humans.

What does all this synthetic blood get used for, then?

Mostly in veterinary medicine, few countries that have lax regulations also allow the use on humans in limited cases.
