In what is possibly the biggest irony of this century so far, Zelensky was actually elected with an overwhelming majority on a platform of making peace with Russia.
But when your country is a vassal state of the US empire it doesn't really matter what your people want, you will dance to the tune of the puppetmasters in Washington or you will be disposed of and replaced, and as others in the same situation have found out (such as the puppet dictator Ngô Đình Diệm) survival is not guaranteed even when you have been a loyal dog for many years.

The party of legions was banned post 2014 and Communist Party of Ukraine got underground due to anti commie laws. The choice was not given to Ukrainian people at all.
Ukraine is not a democracy , yes Zelensky was elected but the top officials and the power structure of the Ukrainain state got heavily compromised . If Nuland could arrange the presidency of Ukraine what could have done to the top officials and diplomats is beyond our knowledge now even the military commander in chief worships Stephen Bandera.
