If Putin invaded hell, I'd sympathize with the Devil.

For me it is not about supporting/agreeing with Ukraine. It is about Russia starting a war because they want to. I live a country close to the war, I don't want Russian occupation or proximity.

Yeah. Im not even sure supporting is the right word. It would be great to me if russia had not started it and barring that just packing it in and going back home. Supporting the war would be supporting russia in it. Its just supporting ukraine defending itself. Granted it would be great if russia actually abided by its treatise but im really in fantasy land now.

Because they have been told to support Ukraine

Russia bad, of course

The news says they're the good guys and most people don't look too closely at the patches they wear, or even necessarily know what they're looking at when they do.

This is good advertising for their weapon systems and now the Polish for example buy lots of them after they've seen them being effective in Ukraine. Other countries, too. And even Ukraine will buy matching munition etc... I think it's a really effective way to advertise and then make money.

Also the US will eventually need to deal with Putin, China etc as that affects them, too. And letting the Ukrainians do it is a comparatively good and cheap way. And no US soldier will have to die.

Another benefit: Clearing out the stockpiles of old weapons, giving them away and then getting new and yet more modern ones for the own military.

So I only see pro arguments for the US. It's a good investment and there is benefit on more than one level. My question would be: Why not do it?

I think it’s a really effective way to advertise and then make money.

I don't think this is A reason, I think this is THE reason.

US government loves to couch these actions as being Team America World Police style-heroes, but the reality is the more mundane evil of selling weapons.

Liberal partisanship

Most Americans don't support Ukraine or Russia, we're very self-absorbed and very much believe America rules all other countries. We do believe in military support for the Ukrainian army, however, especially where Russia is the aggressor. And thanks for the invite to suck a dick, we'll be there!!
