Sounds to me like the best way to progress at this point would be to nationalize the utility and focus it on power generation and management rather than profit.

And IMO similar could be said about many things.

Maybe it's not about humans and never has been. Maybe by the time the gods realized how much of an issue humans were, we were already too widespread for them to destroy us without either running out of mana or ruining earth for everything.

Maybe the cancer is a god's plan, but it's not working well enough.

What if you wrap it in a blanket?

But it's also underwhelming when your usual reference for over 100 is, "WHAT IT'S HOT ENOUGH TO BOIL WATER OUTSIDE!?"

Or use a piece of paper, as long as you don't steady it with your other hand.

Someone set up a script to automatically create daily backups to tape. Unfortunately, it's still the first tape that was put in there 3.5 years ago, every backup since that one filled up failed. It might as well have failed silently because everyone who received the email with the error message filtered them to a folder they generally ignored.

The term "public relations" is literally propaganda to make propaganda look better. It was just called propaganda before WWII but then there was a propaganda campaign to increase local resistance to propaganda from the Nazis and then the Communists. And it worked, so they needed more propaganda to get the local propaganda to work again.

This raises the question of how many kg of human mass is required to start fusion and create a human star? How does fusion even work if you have a mix of different elements? Would the human star pulse in a cycle of collapsing until hydrogen fusion starts, exploding out until it stops and then collapsing again? Or would any fusion ignite enough to stop it from collapsing into a neutron star or black hole?

And if I've asked this question, does it mean xkcd has already attempted an answer? Or at least a comic that mentions it?

I put off watching that for a long time because I didn't really like the Harley Quinn character and her obsession with Joker and that whole abusive relationship they had, compounded by all the people who treated Harley and Joker like it was a relationship goal.

But I was very pleasantly surprised when I did eventually give it a shot. Yeah, it does include some Harley and J stuff, but they kinda had to because of how ingrained that relationship was into Harley's pop culture identity. But it is done well. The series is one of my favorite in the Batman mythos.

It's also kinda interesting how Ivy seems to be holding up better morally than Batman himself does. She's an environmental warrior while he's a status quo warrior, and that billionaire side of him holds up less and less well as it becomes more and more apparent that even billionaire philanthropists are really just taking credit for giving away wealth they shouldn't have had in the first place.

I also wonder if there would be more doctors if they didn't have such an abusive onboarding process that doesn't necessarily ever get any better after they finish their residence.

It seems like there's a vicious cycle going on where the crazy hours lead to burnout, which leads to some people leaving, which then leads to more crazy hours to try to make up for the shortage.
