I haven't watched the other Short Treks in a while, but isn't this super close to one of the old ones? I enjoyed it either way.

The Star Trek mod for Sins got more play on my PC than Sins itself did. It is fantastic!

Growing up, I played mostly Armada 1/2 with a lot of Elite Force 1 and Bridge Commander (oh the mods!) thrown in.

I spent every afternoon after school and every weekend evening playing Armada. I still think it is my favorite RTS game, even beating Warcraft 3.
