I'm sure you already understand this, but this is an unprecedented political project that would require the vast majority of people to stop simply sitting by reacting to political events.

NVidia has a pretty good capture on the gaming market. Especially during the 980/1080 generations. I've also seen a ton of non media people insist on NVidia cuz of shadowplay.

This is speculation, but I don't think most new Linux users are building computers specifically for Linux. They're letting their computers age, then considering Linux when they see the cost of the new generation of NVidia hardware.

Let us not overestimate the general publics knowledge of hardware compatibility and operating systems in general. I think they conceptualize it like replacing a brick in a Lego wall. They'd have no reason to suspect it wouldn't work.

It's it really that hard to believe that members of the ruling class would conspire to enact their own will and interest?

History is spotted with blood spilled by consequence of rulers doing exactly this.

As someone who uses macos every day my worthless internet opinion is that the Gnome 4 desktop experience is far better for productivity. I mainly use a web browser, email, and ssh, so I tend to value windowing and multidesktop fluidity highly. This is also coming from a linux certified tech though.

He's charging $1 a month to prevent bots on a site where bots have $8 blue checkmarks from stolen credit cards. He's gonna get visa and MasterCard knocking if he starts being associated with Jagex style ccard fraud.

Even many traditional programs are too big for any one person to understand. Ie. The linux kernel. The question is what level of abstraction were going to be using to describe its behavior. Computers of full of metaphorical black boxes that are only said to work because they're tested to work the way you'd test an engine to see it's power.
