Nowadays Windows is filled with adware and is fairly slow, but it wasn't always like this. Was there a particular time where a change occurred?

Use vencord, which bundles OpenAsar, which disables the built-in tracking from the app.

That's weird, I don't see any ads when using it. Are you using the official extension? https://www.wikiwand.com/

I like to use Wikiwand, it's a browser addon that overhauls the wikipedia UI.

Watching TV series's. As a maker, I really just went to be making stuff all the time, and having to sit and dedicate my time to watching a show really does not interest me. I do like watching longform Nebula content while I'm doing other things though, like Philosophy Tube or Jet Lag: The Game. I also like reading books, just not tv or movies most of the time

I've never heard of it! I'll check it out.

It does collect your data though, and it's not open source. Omnivore is a good FOSS alternative

I think you're definitely generalising to only devices you have used, but I still do agree with some of your experiences.

Floorp (a firefox fork) has split view as well. (It isn't great but it works)

Additionally, Floorp also natively supports webapps
