You might want to cross post this into Linux communities too ๐Ÿ‘ Best of luck

During the first impressions of said distro, what feature surprised you the most?

On my distro(Bazzite), /mnt is only a symlink to /var/mnt. Not sure why, but only found out the other day.

SUSE just open-sourced a typeface :)

As far as I know there are these;

  • Camel case = coolFileName
  • Snake case = cool_file_name
  • Kebab case = cool-file-name
  • Pascal case = CoolFileName
  • Dot notation = cool.file.name
  • Flat case = coolfilename
  • Screaming case = COOLFILENAME

Personally I prefer the kebab/dot conventions simply because they allow for easy "navigation" with (ctrl+arrow keys) between each part. What are your preferences when it comes to this? Did I miss any schemes?

I have the same motherboard! I also rock the AMD 6700 XT graphics card, which I acquired this year, so it would defo leave a sour taste in my mouth if this was the guilty puzzlepiece in the my stack.

Whilst trying to install other .iso's late last night i kept seeing the ACPI errors over and over again, which has me thinking this is a problem with my hardware setup, as you suggested by others. Journalctl command results in this if thats to any help; https://0x0.st/Xt2e.txt

and this is lsmod;

lunix@fedora:~$ lsmod | grep amdgpu
amdgpu              17293312  158
amdxcp                 12288  1 amdgpu

Hi.

Tried to install nix but am stuck with an issue I'm not able to resolve. Whenever I boot the system, it uses approx 5min on the boot-up of Nixos Stage #1 as seen in the picture. After a while it will boot into the system but without a GUI. I've done the installation twice, with different isos to make sure I didn't do it wrong. It only works if I downgrade to nixos 23.11, but if I update(+plasma 6) from there It results in the same problem.

The error is:

kernel: Acpi Error: Aborting method (long string) due to previous error (AE_AML_UNINITIALIZED_ELEMENT)

Have no idea what this error is, and there don't seem to be alot of info on it. Reaching out here to see if anyone is able to help me troubleshoot this, as I would really like to try latest Nixos.

Just stumbled upon this project, seems rather new as my DNS blocked its domain by default for being too new hehe.. Anyone had a chance to try it yet? Its got some hefty promises, like having equally strong privacy features as Librewolf. I'll be giving it ago at least, almost sounds a bit too good to be true...

Thanks for the info :)

Only recently discovered yt-dlp, despite its popularity. However I was wondering if I were to use this, should it be used behind a VPN when downloading videos off public websites?

Figured it was YT specific, but will check it out in more detail - thanks :)

Hiya, so looking to download videos of certain websites. So far been using https://www.downloadhelper.net/ extension to download the videos manually, but it turns into a very tedious process after a while. Looking for a way to automate this process :) Let me know if there are any tools, programs or solutions to grab stuff off the internet.

Nice write up, thanks for sharing!

I also highly recommend the mobile app called LunaSea as an alternative for nzb360.

LunaSea is a fully featured, open source self-hosted controller focused on giving you a seamless experience between all of your self-hosted media software remotely on your devices.

Just wondering how you guys balance the mix of these. Our cats looooove wet food, but keep it as a treat for every now and then. Have to keep the wet cat food in a plastic sealed container as our cats will tear through the box they come in and dig their way through haha.

Wow had completely forgot this was still being developed... Thought it had been killed off or just ceased to exist tbh. Glad to hear it's still an ongoing positive progress at least, will be a interesting contender to Minecraft.

That was a far better formulate of what I tried to say haha :)

The dumbest joke I know is a knock knock Joke and goes like this. You first have to make the person you're telling the joke to start saying "knock knock", then you you say, "who's there?".

Proceed to watch the other person confused about what to do next ๐Ÿ˜…

Hiya, just getting into networking and recently completed my Tp-link Omada stack, which I'm very pleased with. Have heard great thing about all three mentioned services above, but struggle to understand which to go for. Do they have different use cases? Is one easier than the other? Which one is recommended to begin with?
