Oh that is interesting. Have you tried searching for yourself in the modlog?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago

Definitely, and remember to always report toxic content both in feddit.nl and lemmy.world πŸ™‚

This will be addressed soon.

And I'm glad it worked that way! :)

I would say a minimum of 10 hours/week is pretty fair. As it is a volunteer position, we would still be very understanding if you can't always make the time.

[–] [email protected] 49 points 10 months ago (3 children)

The comment still do not seem to be in good faith.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Hello @[email protected] I appreciate your inquiry. And while in my heart I would like to allow this on-the-go, in reality it would also raise a multitude of concerns, and require us to review the safety of this situation regularly. I will consider an adjustment and discuss it with other staff when possible, and be sure to get back to you.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 months ago

Close enough. There are certain e-mail providers which one might use to generate and use an e-mail address only for a specific amount of time(eg. ~10 mins), and then will get destroyed by the provider and will no longer be valid. These services are mostly used by bots and spammers, as we have witnessed from countless spam attacks as well as CSAM incidents. Those are what we call burner mails, because they get burned quickly. And they are not allowed here anymore, since a while now.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 10 months ago

Yes, this is because we have just moved the legal page into a different UI with all its content, and so some of the links on the post may not be correct. I will update them as soon as I can and notify you.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago (3 children)

We do not count e-mail alisases as burner e-mails, as I assume that is what you meant. The use of temporary e-mail addresses are not allowed on Lemmy.World, and this is checked and enforced automatically during sign-up. So, as an already successfully registered and confirmed user, you have nothing to worry about.

Hello everyone! Thank you for being here, and thanks to every one of our members for supporting us.

It's only been 22 days since this community started, and we never stopped gaining momentum ever since! The friendly and sincere atmosphere you've all managed to create so quickly here, that's what originally made the internet a great place. You've all visited us from many different corners of the internet, and we've always stayed willing to put in time and effort as required. You swayed toxicity away and established attitudes & we put it into writing to define our rules and approach. We love working with you, as we should :) I hope you feel welcome here.

This week, we didn't change a lot of things. We had to replace two inactive moderators and add @Rooki & @Thekingoflorda to our team. They've been absolutely amazing and Rooki might just come with a gift for us soon ;)

We also added a new rule:

9-Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

The previous Rule 9 is now number 10, so number 10 is not a new rule haha. That about sums up the past week. Oh, and we also banned two(3?) trolls. You can see them along with their deleted content on our mod log.

What change would you like to see in this community? Are you happy with the rules & management? Please feel free to let us know any suggestions & questions you may have in the comments.

Hello there, and welcome to the Fediverse! Let's get you started.

This post was created together with many users, intended to help you have an easy start! It has a simple language, and it includes many useful links.

For your first day here

Hello, newbie user! Lemmy is just like Reddit, but better. Ha-ha. Seriously. But let's not overwhelm you for now.

This very neat starting guide was written by our beloved admin, @ruud. To avoid confusion, start reading it from the Quick start guide section.

If you're new to Lemmy, this post will also help you perfectly.

kbin users can check out this amazing starting guide instead. This is also a nice guide.

Finding Communities on Lemmy/kBin

If you finished reading your starting guide, it's time to go find your new favorite communities! Check out these dedicated services: number 1, 2, 3, and 4, and 5! Go have some fun! :D

For your second day here

Hello again! You're less of a newbie now, and you found some amazing communities! We can start talking about the Fediverse. I hope you didn't forget to read the rules for lemmy.world!

kBin.social's rules are in this link.

The Fediverse

You must've realised that we addressed Lemmy and kBin users differently. And what is this Fediverse people keep talking about, anyways?

Lemmy and kBin are two different platforms, and they can perfectly interact with each other! This means that they are a part of the federation. And they are only two members of the vast Fediverse.

What is the Fediverse? video by Framasoft to get a good understanding with visuals!

As a great lemming once said: Fediverse is basically like a group chat, but for websites. This means that federated websites all agree to share their content with each other, constantly, at the same time.

Follow this link to view a list of all Lemmy instances.

Follow this link to open the Fediverse Observer. It is set to show kBin, but you can navigate your way through the site to show any Fediverse platform you'd like.

For your third day here

That's it! What else do you want? Go have some fun and keep learning along the way! ;)

Upper note: This post is not about Lemmy. It's about this specific community :)

Why YSK: because if you're seeing this, you're probably subscribed to it :) we need more posts & activity if you want to keep it alive and thriving! It's been dead in the last 2 days.

Please follow our rules(which are very few) if you decide to support & create activity. And please don't hurry. We don't want the main page to be sick of us, do we? Haha.

edit: Thanks to everyone sharing their opinions as to why this might be & helping create activity! I did not expect this to pick up so fast haha. As always, your suggestions and opinions matter.

edit 2: As the level of activity on this post and the immediate boost of activity caused by it was unexpected, it will be locked in hopes to prevent flooding the site. Again, thanks to everyone for helping our community and sharing your opinions. You are loved!

edit 3: thrice the amount of content in a day. this post worked innit? ;)

Hello everyone! First of all, I'd like to say thank you to every one of you for your support! Our community is about to be the first user-made one to reach 1K users/week on this instance. And our friends over at Ask Lemmy and Mildly Infuriating are following very closely, which is just as amazing!

We're all working together to establish healthy communities and a friendly atmosphere here. And over at !NoStupidQuestions, we believe that all our members should have a say in what we do & how we do it.

Do you see anything wrong with our rules? Would you like anything removed and/or added? Do you think Rule 6 is useful and good for the community? Do you want a discord server or a matrix chat room?

Please feel free to ask any questions you might have & share your suggestions and ideas!

With Love,

!NoStupidQuestions Mod Team

edit: nvm, you can just talk to them

I'm 25 and I don't have a drivers license. I mean, I've never really felt the need to go and get one. Public transport is usually the fastest option where I live, and it takes a lot less responsibility to use it.

But most people would still prefer driving, rather than using the public T. Why?

We need two more moderators! Volunteers please comment or message me along with your past moderating experience. You are encouraged to start familiarising yourself with our rules! :)

Welcome to YSK, a community aiming to be one of the most useful out there.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules for Posting

1-All posts must begin with YSK. This is a community to share tips and tricks that will help yourself improve on activities, skills and various other tasks in life. YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things, not for facts and figures.

2-In your post’s text body, you must include the reason β€œWhy YSK:”

3- Non-factual ideas or concepts based on conspiracy theories will be removed.

4-No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

Community Moderation

As there is currently little activity, I am the only moderator here. For any inquiries you may message me or comment here. Let’s help Lemmy grow!
