Speaking of parasites, you may want to have that brain slug removed.

I doubt they spent all that much money murking whatshisname. The R&D money goes to the parasites known as executives and shareholders

I, on the other hand, had no idea what that is. Apparently one of the filmatisations of the American children's book by the same name?

This'll of course depend on the species, but usually the super long ones that people walk in to are the strands they use to get to a spot of their own after hatching. Many spiders just sort of yeet themselves to the wind after they hatch, attached with just that one single strand – that way all the hatchlings don't just build their webs in the same spot. A huge percentage of them don't make it, but that's the r reproductive strategy for you

Interesting that they released Yashin. I wonder if he got asylum from somewhere or if he's staying in Russia? Neither NPR or The Guardian mentioned anything and I haven't done any searching yet.

Also, I had no idea who Whelan is so I went and read his wiki page – apparently he's a former US Marine who got arrested in Russia over charges of espionage. Based on the article I was left with the impression that the charges seem like bullshit, but his FSB buddy thing was, well… pretty weird if nothing else. Apparently he was in Russia for the wedding of a friend who's also a former Marine, and it somehow struck me as funny that jarheads seem to like Russia

From a historical perspective, it's stranger that swearing isn't normal for some people; it seems to be a universal feature of human languages throughout history and around the world.

The exact swear / taboo words vary of course, but in general it does seem like just about every culture ever has had and used swear words.

Edit: and the title is in no way meant to disparage sex workers, I really do believe sex work is real work

Sadly, we will never again be likely to have the opportunity to take such a photo.
