Just finishing up Episode 4 of the Quake remaster on nightmare difficulty. Episodes 1-3 were challenging, but my god these exploding bouncy ball "spawns" in E4 are such rage fuel.

Only 3 more levels then I move on to the expansions. First time playing those, so looking forward to it!

Now this is the kind of calling out we can get behind

Yeah I've been avoiding it since The Change became apparent, but I feel like posting screenshots kind of keeps it alive. Like people think they're got one over on the bigot billionaire

Hell yeah, you're killing it with these links, thank you.

I'm not surprised it's a known phenomenon, but still excited to catch up on others' thoughts.

I think of that paper often, though I think it applies equally to other humans. Like I'll never know how it feels to be Doug unless I fully become Doug, and thus lose my own perspective.

Like how much of empathy is just projection?

I feel like a lot of it. We can talk about similarities in physiological responses to events, but as far as the actual subjective "qualia" (I think I'm using the term correctly) 🤷‍♂️

I'm not even sure a shared taxonomy of human emotions is particularly accurate, given how differently people sense even nameable emotions.

But they're still valid emotions ofc, just kinda unknowable

I just don't have time to invest in learning a new operating system.

That's fair. I got turned on to Linux in college so this is how I feel when confronted with Windows or Mac devices. I just get so frustrated every time I try, and it doesn't seem like the end result is worth it if I can just stick with what works and not have to worry about some random update radically and inexorably altering how my computer works.
