Uh... I'm fine with this. Look at the US to see what no oversight gets you - if it takes longer and we waste less money that's alright.

That's like, pretty fucking shitty performance for how much money they probably spent on them.
TIL:
Attempting to leave Canada to commit an offence for a terrorist group.
That's an actual crime... I totally understand "intent to commit a terrorist act" being a crime but I'm baffled we have such a specific law tied to trying to leave the country. What an obscure fucking law.
What's even more broken than the CPC are the CPC voters who openly embrace American MAGA bullshit. The "controversy" surrounding caravan arrests is a national embarrassment.
AI hElPs PeOpLe LiVe BeTtEr LiVeS!
We should outlaw all the tactics used by the worst offenders until the renter/landlord relationship returns to a reasonable level of sanity. These fucking parasites are destroying the Canadian economy by further concentrating wealth - we've come a long way from "I have an extra bedroom since my kid moved out" and landlording is now a business and should never be given the benefit of the doubt.
If you have the bandwidth... it is absolutely worth it to invest in a maintenance mode for your system, just check some flat file on disk for a flag before loading up a router or anything and then, if it's engaged, just send back a static html file with ye olde "under construction" picture.
I'd double down on those difficulties - my partner has mobility issues and the metro is a nightmare to navigate if you have a cane... if you have a wheel chair it's pretty much impossible.
Didn't go for the Olympics - we've been a few times as it's easiest for us to fly in there and then train through Europe... it's fucking awesome, the food is good, the markets are amazing, and the people are nice!

Of course we don't - Jared is why some workplaces don't suck. Having a dev with enough seniority to force management to do logical things is an incredible asset.

It took me twenty years since learning I have ADHD to come to the realization that while I'm really fucking good at some shit I really suck at others and the "You're just being lazy" feeling is just bullshit that I can regret.
I help my coworkers do shit I'm great at - and lean on them for help when I need it... and I've never gotten any complaints that I'm not pulling my own share.
