There's no mixed signal here. The signal is "America bad, I fix", and millions of idiots will continue to fall for it. The details of the 'bad' and the 'fix' don't matter.
Love that the example is Australia, because just 3 years ago the whole freaking country was on fire.

Austria. A country who’s about the size of a county in California. Not Australia. California has forests probably 4x the size of that country.
