In smaller communities on Reddit, it’s the same way. Front page subs are just so unbelievably huge that any actual comments just feel drowned out, so I rarely comment there.

yeah, it's nice getting to know people here and developing real connections with the people who post most often. the small communities on reddit seem dead lately.

I guess it depends on the size of the community (Reddit exodus probably also made some impact), although I am impressed at how big Lemmygrad has grown even since I joined.
