It's just Fern GullyI thought it was just Pocahontas with robots, but I had just watched the animated version around a week before I saw the first blue Avatar.
Don't forget Dances With Wolves! That's another one it's similar to.
Your description is also correct, according to the transitive property of Fern Gully/Pocahontas films.
But objectively worse because Avatar doesn't feature Tim Curry
