As X’s owner and most followed user, Elon Musk has increasingly used the social media platform as a microphone to amplify his political views and, lately, those of right-wing figures he’s aligned with. There are few modern parallels to his antics, but then again there are few modern parallels to Elon Musk himself.

It's crazy that Twitter has such an outsized influence on the public, and I think it's because news outlets amplify it so much.

It doesn't have that many active users. And news rarely covers other platforms when something makes a lot of noise and reaches many eyeballs.

No shit, but then even Obama used Twitter to win the elections. What's new?

The owner of the platform blatantly and openly supporting one side is new. We used to call that election interference

Is it new? Every publisher and platform seems to openly support one side or another.

At least he is honest about who he / the platform supports, not some shady algorithm pending to one side, or some tv channel being left while another is right lol

No, he's doing both. He's both open about his love for authoritarians AND uses shady algorithms to promote Nazi bullshit.
