I recently heard my mid-70s mother use "YOLO." I was shook.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 11 months ago (2 children)

YOLO as an excuse to do stupid shit is such a weird thing to me. You also only die once.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 11 months ago

But I never died before so what could possibly go wrong?

Fuck it, we'll do it live!

[–] [email protected] 8 points 11 months ago

As a musician this is both the best, and worst thing to hear!

[–] [email protected] 32 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (3 children)

“I’m gonna regret this in the morning/immediately”

“Hey babe wanna see me do something stupid”

“I’m an engineer I know what I’m doing”

“It’ll be cheaper if I do it myself”

“How hard could it be”

“One more won’t hurt”

“Worst case scenario I die”

[–] [email protected] 25 points 11 months ago (1 children)

My personal favorite is just simply "fuck it".

Gotta risk it for the biscuit

No idea why or when I heard it but I like the risk/reward nature of it

Follow up afterwards: it is what it is

[–] [email protected] 11 points 11 months ago

"Witness me!"

[–] [email protected] 11 points 11 months ago

One more won't hurt

[–] [email protected] 11 points 11 months ago

"Fuck it" is the objectively correct answer.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 11 months ago

What's the worst that could happen?

completely rhetorical, doesn't actually consider what could go wrong

[–] [email protected] 11 points 11 months ago

Gotta die of something!

[–] [email protected] 10 points 11 months ago

Hold my beer

[–] [email protected] 10 points 11 months ago

Sounds like a problem for future-me!

[–] [email protected] 10 points 11 months ago

What's the point in making money if I can't buy shit I want!

[–] [email protected] 9 points 11 months ago

"Make America Great Again" while at the voting both.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 11 months ago

Just send it!

[–] [email protected] 9 points 11 months ago

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 11 months ago

"Here I go again..."

[–] [email protected] 8 points 11 months ago

"Gotta die sometime!"

also

"It is a good day to die"

The latter was originally inspired from Little Big Man, not Star Trek as you'd assume.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 11 months ago (1 children)

[–] [email protected] 7 points 11 months ago

Only one way to find out.

No matter what the outcome is always say "calculated"

We do not do it because it is easy, but because we thought it would be easy!

Hold my beer...

Also on a serious note coming from life is short quote, anything you thought it was a recent event check that again. I broke up with my fiance and it feels like I did it last year it has been 11 years. I lost my parents and it feels like it was yesterday it has been 9 years. I gave up and left everything behind and it has been 6 years. Don't get caught off guard when life slaps your in the face while you think you're some hot young person who has all the things in the world.

After careful consideration, I believe this is the least damaging option.
