It was shared in a comment on a different lemmy post earlier today, someone made a post out of it.

But who cares, anyway? What difference does the date make? The community is "Funny", not "News". If it hasn't been posted before, and it fits the subject, by all means.

I've been tempted to try it in my city but I figure there would be a statewide manhunt for the Mad Penis Painter but no potholes filled.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Frustrated by the number of potholes pockmarking his city streets, an anonymous man recently discovered a way to get the city to pay attention: penises.

The man has been using industrial chalk to draw penises around each pothole, claiming the eyesores expedite the filling process, BBC reports.

They'll be there for months," the artist, who calls himself Wanksy, told BBC's Newsbeat.

"Suddenly you draw something amusing around it, everyone sees it, and it either gets reported or fixed."

The town council, unsurprisingly, says the work is both unnecessary and obscene, claiming a penis frame will not get a pothole fixed any faster than usual.

The artist notes the drawings will fade away in "a week or two," so the vandalism isn't permanent — it's just a temporary, creative way of getting something done.

The original article contains 145 words, the summary contains 133 words. Saved 8%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

The community in Colorado Springs does this. If they clean up the graffiti, but don't fix the pothole, there will be more graffiti within a few days

If this was done where I live, the city/county would have merely painted over the dick instead of fixing the pothole.

Try it and find out

At first glance, before I read the headline, I thought this was a picture taken from a drone and we were looking at a huge wang around a small lake.

My sleep addled brain saw that as an aerial photo and had a hard time comprehending how someone drew a massive cock around an entire city.

the drawings will fade away in "a week or two,"

Pretty sure the drawing will still last longer than that shoddy job of filling.

Reminds me of people in Russia painting "NAVALNY" on snow piles (Ex liberal opposition leader, currently imprisoned) in order for communal services to clean them up lol
