I think the allies actually made a specific decision not to kill Hitler, because he was so incompetent at prosecuting the war. They felt that it he was killed and a less insane Nazi took over the war effort it would make a lot more problems for them.
Hitler was actually dumb as fuck and made horrible military decisions that helped win the war, like declaring war against the US and USSR when he didn't have to.
If the choice is evil and incompetent vs evil and not incompetent, you pick the former
This is why Trump would be a better bad outcome than Desantis. Both are malevolent, but only one knows/cares how the political machine works to enact his cruelty into law as Reagan did, the other mostly just wants to hear himself talk and has to be led around and babysat by others.
