Hey folks. Just finished a tab of the song "Superior" from Extol's incredible "Burial" album. Figured I'd share it here as I'm sure there's a few around here that know of Extol's greatness. If you want a .gp8 version of the file, just let me know.

This implies that the rat also has a pair of pants.

That's a fuckton of assumptions. Terrible assumptions, I might add.

Not exactly. Its just awkward for a bunch of repetitions, especially on MacOS keyboards. CMD+C/V is even worse on those.

I was just reading this thread... https://sh.itjust.works/post/23476261

...and it got me thinking about something that I've wanted for a long time. Why is it that keyboards have not evolved to have dedicated copy/paste keys left of the main board? I'd love to see an additional column of keys left of Esc->Ctrl configurable as macros at least. I do a lot of copy/paste for work. The current shortcuts arent terrible or anything but they're not exactly comfortable. I'd rather move my whole hand to the left for a macro key than contort to hit the current shortcut.

What do you think?

Can someone help me understand this meme format? Why is it "no one:"? Shouldn't it be "everyone:"?

I get the joke in general but the words make no sense to me.

My mom's about to get this done. How is the recovery? Is there anything I should consider so that I'm useful helo if needed after the procedure?

...relative to Reddit's size?

I see so many posts and comments voicing disappointment with Lemmy's lack of massive expansion.

I too want to see Lemmy gain more users, but I do not want it to grow to Reddit's size. If Reddit is the yardstick, I'd say that a population that large attracts a lot of negative behaviours; degeneration of discourse, amplification of echo chambers and hive mind behaviour, etc...

I started on Reddit in 2010 and found that by 2016 things were really bad in comparison. A fun and engaging site was experiencing an obvious devolution that persists to this day, accelerated by Spez's enshittification of the platform. Obviously the fediverse insulates us from that occurring here but I think you get what I mean.

Do you you think Lemmy is too small? I don't. I've been here since the great migration last year and have had a really good time. I see a lot of familiar names in the comments on a daily basis. It actually feels like a community here. I guess I just don't understand the fixation on the size of Lemmy's user base. Curious to hear your thoughts.

[EDIT] Thanks for all the responses, everyone! Lots of perspectives I hadn't yet considered.

I'd spend 100M in a month easily. Especially after I've bankrolled GrapheneOS, Ladybird and all my favourite FOSS projects. They also didn't say anything about charity which IMO isn't gifting. Once I feel like I've sufficiently contributed to society I'd buy a 50ft sailboat, pimp the shit out of it with solar and fuck off forever.

With the billion I'd establish a fund that pays out monthly to any projects I deem worthy and funds all food banks in my local area indefinitely.

I'm not here to troubleshoot this issue. I don't have the technical skill or understanding of this platform to do so.

I'm sure I'm not the only one with a working banking app. We don't all use mainstream banks, right? There are options and I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

Thanks for insinuating I'm a liar though. That's nice.

I'm on a Pixel 8 with GrapheneOS and a working banking app with no special fuckery because I genuinely don't know enough about android to deviate from what's offered in the stock Graphene experience other than using the FUTO keyboard and customizing basic settings just like everyone else.

That one use case literally invalidates the claim that banking apps don't work. Your banking app might not work, but mine does.

Not true. I'm a Tangerine customer and have no issues at all with their app on Graphene.

AFAIK, Heilung shouldn't be considered traditional music. Many elements of their music are borrowed from unrelated cultures. Throat singing for example is not a Scandinavian tradition. They also use Hindu instruments in their compositions. Heilung themselves don't even describe their music as traditional, yet they have some rabid fans that try to shoehorn their work into scandinavian tradition, muddying the historical waters for anyone unfamiliar with scandinavian tradition. Cool band, but yeah. Odd dynamic going on here.

Still, I bet a collaboration would be cool.

I'm not using Linux in any enterprise capacity, but the compatibility improvements I've seen since the last time I tried out a distro for fun are immense.

So immense infact that I'm migrating all my home studio and gaming stuff over to Linux and making it my official daily driver via Nobara.

I'm honestly amazed by how well music production software and hardware works on Linux now. I'm so relieved because I thought this whole Windows enshittification thing was just another part of my life where I seemingly have no control over being made into a product and having all of my data sold constantly.

A recent migration to GrapheneOS and this new discovery of Linux's amazing capabilities for my use case are such a breath of fresh air. I now have the choice to reject the exploitative practices of these tech companies that have zero respect for people and that makes me happy.

The more we use and recommend Linux the more of a chance we get of first party support in the future!

I've had zero luck finding any info on this. Maybe my search skills are bad :/

What I'm looking for are mouse skates that create the feel of a mouse on a mouse pad. All the skates I'm seeing are for ultra low friction when used on a mouse pad. Basically, I want to get rid of the need for a mouse pad on my desk for aesthetic and practical reasons and am hoping that someone knows about a set of mouse skates that would facilitate this.

My heart nearly beat out of my chest on this one! We were already down a player since the start of the game so this match was an uphill battle from the start. We ended up winning the game which felt amazing. This round is the cherry on top.

Hey folks, just wondering if any of you out there are playing BFBC2 via the Project Rome servers and are having issues logging in.

I was able to play on the day I installed the feature but ever since I haven't been able to log into Project Rome in-game to play online.

Anyone else having similar issues? I'm wondering if this is just a me thing...

On vacation last fall we ended up hiking in the Lauterbrunnen/Grindelwald area. Took this pic on my Samsung A51 after a quick lunch. Other than the A51's limited auto PP, there are no edits or adjustments to this photo. Not bad for a cheap phone, eh?
