It's just so sad that misguided ideology and lobbying have prevented regulations for decades that could easily prevent school shootings. That's why these tragedies are incredibly more common in the US than anywhere else in the world. So it seems to be a fact of life that guns are more valued in the US than children's lives.

I find it quite strange that "old and weird" seems to work better than "corrupt and criminal".

Exactly. I mean accounts that are typically not very old and exclusively spread right-wing content and the corresponding ideas - apart from perhaps a few low effort comments or posts that are most likely intended to conceal this fact. What makes these accounts even more suspicious to me is that they generally do not put forward any factual arguments, are not impressed by them in any way and are not even interested in a discussion. If you confront them and they respond at all, they always lapse into whataboutism or fall back on the familiar "I'm just asking questions" - both are strategies that think tanks in particular use to deflect attention from the fact that their claims and accusations have no factual basis. I can only conclude from such behavior that it is not about exchanging ideas with others, but about promoting a clearly defined world view, creating discord and aggression, tying up resources or forming a nucleus for belief in irrational assertions. I don't think private individuals without a political agenda would do that - at least not to this extent.

They even try to do this on Lemmy. I've seen a few accounts recently that were obviously created with the sole purpose of spreading right-wing propaganda.

Hi-fi stereo systems with amplifiers, speakers and cables.

I could be wrong, but I think that old stereo systems generally have way better sound quality than Bluetooth systems, soundbars and the like. Physical media such as CDs or even Flac files (etc.) are of course impractical compared to streaming, but the audio quality is much higher.

However, since you can also stream audio without any problems, I would recommend every music fan to buy a used stereo system with high-quality speakers from the 2000s or even from the late 90s - in my opinion, excellent audio quality at a low price.

What about Ninja Turtles?

Trump is directly responsible for these excesses. In the press conference right after the conviction, he said:

This was a rigged trail by a conflicted judge who was corrupt. (...) This was done by the Biden administration in order to wound or hurt a political opponent.

These are, of course, allegations that have no basis in fact whatsoever. So I wonder: are there no legal means to prosecute Trump for these blatantly false allegations?

Shouldn't the mere allegation that the judge was corrupt be enough to sue for defamation? I mean, it has to be enormously damaging to the judge's reputation if someone makes such serious accusations against him.

For me, a random sales guy took the cake when he introduced himself as "Chief Innovation Evangelist".

There is no justification whatsoever for denying basic humanitarian aid to starving people in a war zone. That is just straight up evil.

I'm a foreigner. But I'd still like to know.
