As a gay man- at least in my local community, the loophole does exist, and I've heard a good number of queer people use it (though only in conversations with people they know will be comfortable with it). ๐Ÿคท

I don't necessarily take issue with it being used in a clinical tone like this. Context is context tho, and I don't speak for everybody ofc. ยฐโ _โ o

I don't get it. What good reason is there for the state to make a law like this?

hey, I'm sorry you've been feeling down. I can't offer a solution, but I just wanted you to know you're seen. and if you want to talk about it more, absolutely feel free to shoot a message.

fwiw, I absolutely sympathize. I'm a young adult with adhd, and struggling with depression, though the latter is getting better I think. I went pretty quickly from being a "gifted kid" to being what most would consider an underachiever. I don't, to be clear; I'm proud of where I am, regardless of how it seems to compare to some of my friends. it's still a mad reality check, though.

on a related note, I left christianity a year ago, and holy fuck has that been an adjustment. most of my optimism was always rooted in religion, and without that worldview, it's suddenly on me to find new reasons to be even a little hopeful, even to want to be alive. I'm not suicidal, but for a while there I couldn't say that I wasn't. I do feel like I'm happy to be alive now, and that's great, but holy crap this is not as easy as it was when I believed in an all-powerful benevolent god. ah well.

I hope you have a lovely day, but if you don't, that's valid too. life isn't always lovely, and there's nothing wrong with acknowledging that. there's nothing wrong with feeling down about it. all we can do is try to support ourselves and one another, y'know?

i'm sorry for the dreams that've been taken from you and the injustices you've experienced. you deserved better, and so did I, and so did most of us. thank you for being honest about it. ๐Ÿซ‚

I mean it probably doesn't help, but if you're yelling anything at the sky you're probably gonna sound a bit crazy /s

I wouldn't ever want someone to be able to own a tone/sound of voice. I'm with you there.

But it kinda sounds like they're trying to straight-up imitate her. Like they want people to hear this ai and think it's voiced by johanssen herself.

I don't know if that's true, or if it even makes a difference legally, it's just the impression I'm getting.

I'm not knowledgeable about any of this; any correction is welcome, lol.

It's pretty common where I live, especially for people who grow up in conservative families. You start out assuming the trusted adults in your life are right about everything (or at least I did), but once you're exposed to the world outside your bubble, you gradually (or not) change your mind on a lot of things.

I get that that's different from, say, an adult with fully formed beliefs one day changing their mind, and that probably is pretty rare. Still, out of all the badass lefties I know, most of them did have at least a few years of cringy hardcore conservatism. ๐Ÿคท

I think so, yeah. Also, billionaire means anything more than 1 billion, right? It might help to look at how much wealth they actually have; for example, if one nation has 1 billionaire (with $30 billion) and another has 30 billionaires (each with $1 billion), I wouldn't argue that the former is especially better off.

Well, this is a fun discussion!

...Anyways, I like to think that the title implies you're supposed to vote more than once lol

A dad joke about a dad joke. I like it!

Good point!!

Apparently whales are ~36ยฐ, about the same as humans. I'm not a biologist or anything, but I wonder why they maintain such a high body temperature, considering how difficult that is in the ocean lol.

Still, I wouldn't be surprised if the milk is quite a bit colder by the time it gets to the baby.

Here's, uh... definitely the strangest youtube video I've watched this week, but I thought it was interesting. ยฏโ \โ (โ ใƒ„โ )โ /โ ยฏ

Just curious. I looked through the settings and didn't see anything regarding push notifications, but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask in case I'm missing anything.

If not, are there any plans to introduce them? I wouldn't complain either way, honestly. I'm not sure if I'd even enable them. On one hand, they can be too attention-grabby. But without them, sometimes I feel like I have to keep opening the app to check. I know I'm a little phone dependent, but I'm working on it. ยฏโ \โ _โ (โ ใƒ„โ )โ _โ /โ ยฏ

This is unrelated, but I just wanted to say thanks to the devs! I've been on here for a few months and it's been a great experience. Y'all rock :D

Hey Lemmy! ๐Ÿ‘‹

I've never been able to stand the feeling of wearing a wrist watch for very long. But I figured hey, maybe I just haven't found the right one yet! So I'm here to ask, what's the most comfortable watch to you guys?
