People who emigrated from the Soviet Union often disagreed with its social policy and general way of life. They were more fans of capitalism/individualism as they imagined it, over the Soviet system. This is reflected not just in lifestyle but in politics too, they are a Republican stalwart in a deeply democratic area. I wouldn't count on them "maintaining Soviet culture".

It's kinda fucked up that they don't teach this to freshman college students first thing as part of basic media literacy.

Same goes for teaching version control such as git to anyone writing or collaborating on complex text (not necessarily even code). https://medium.com/@RichHosek/github-for-writers-an-introduction-8cec9d9ece2

Granted, Google docs already has built in versioning, but git works better offline and works with any text editor.

If anyone is choosing between them I'd advise going with Zotero because it's an open source project. No chance of it suddenly shutting down or changing the terms of service.

I mean, how does craigslist handle it? This doesn't seem much more technically complex than whatever craigslist does

I may be weird but why would you need an infotainment system at all? I have all the infotainment I could possibly want in my phone, the car is only needed as a Bluetooth speaker and for standard playback controls.

could you give a couple examples of how vscode degrades quality?

Actually leftists talking about Kamala being a cop is fine because it only makes the median "liberal" voter like her more :)

as a queer leftist (look up ag kamala's record on gender affirming care for trans inmates for a fun time) I support her on electoral grounds- she isn't visibly falling apart at the seams like Biden and can do the physical work of campaigning and interacting with potential voters. We can work with this.

She is also on record as having a somewhat tougher stance on Israel's war (unlike Joe, who supported them no matter what they did). That's my personal red-line issue so I'm glad there's some semblance of a shift there :/

My (we're Russian) mom always said it was because true cowboys know that if you take them off a scorpion could crawl in, so better safe than sorry

Varoufakis (Marxist econ professor and also briefly the Greek finance minister) wrote a book about this called "the adults in the room". He's biased of course but I respect him a lot

Could you use a slide rule for that kind of multiplication?
