I recommend to use bottles. It creates sandboxed bottles with wine and directx support and offers a gaming optimized preset

I use Speech Note for STT/TTS and it works great. You can choose between different models, I use whisper (more accurate) or Vosk (faster). You don’t need a GPU, but it will speed things up greatly

I had this exact same thought but than I booted Windows. I get less frustrated because if use Linux I feel like I’m working with it and it is acceptable if there are mistakes. If I use Windows I feel like I’m working against it, and a big part of that is that a lot of issue aren’t there because they are bugs (of which there are probably as many as on Linux) but rather just bad/anti user design

Newspaper is a pretty cheap and effective way to keep yourself warm, and warm Croissants are easily 10 times better than cold ones

Their privacy is better than regular Firefox due to disabling telemetry etc, but librewolf does way more to protect against fingerprinting. The browser itself is quite good, although it shows that it’s in early development. Also I disabled send a do not track signal as it is used for fingerprinting

The question is whether this is an actual increase in Linux users or if so many Computers didn’t work that the total number sank

Competitiveness was also part of the survival brain, it allowed monkey to perform better. Also male mating partners are usually selected that way (who has the most food, is the strongest etcetera), so the more competitive monkeys would have more likely started the next generation .

Falkon just uses Chromiums web engine and strips everything else, they don't use Manifest V3 as they have their own extension system (although that isn't really mature). It comes with a built in adblocker that works fine for browsing, but youtube ads can't be blocked. I recommend Falkon for web browsing, but I wouldn't use it if all you want to do is watch youtube I would use a browser that supports h264ify. For browsers that do use chromiums web extension api there is a version of h264ify, which you will need for hardware acceleration.

Also if you use Firefox make sure to use h264ify for hardware acceleration on YouTube

Some tips:

  1. Rasberry pi OS is the lightest OS on pi
  2. Use Falkon as a browser, it’s much lighter
  3. Use mpv (or celluloid for simplicity) to watch YouTube videos and something like ytfzf (tui) or plasmatube (gui) for browsing YouTube

Also gnome is a desktop environment not a distro
