Joe leaving the race effectively wiped out anything from that event. Trump for once is the victim of the mass adhd that is our current media and cultural environment. I myself have forgotten several times that he was even shot at, and he's not good at keeping it front and center in anyone's mind either.

Yes, I'm partially referring to the dichotomy Kierkegaard lays out in Either/Or between an aesthetic life and an ethical one. It's clear to me that we discarded the possibility of ethics a few decades ago.

But then I'm also referring to what you're talking about and I totally agree that the fascist aesthetics are terrible as well.

However, they're also increasingly popular for some reason...cars that look like they'll be used exclusively for transport to a black site, hideous people deforming themselves with clownish cosmetic procedures, every iteration of an American flag except the regular one, the fucking cyber truck...there are more examples...fucking ick.

America is increasingly an aesthetic country IMO.

imagine the downvotes coming from the same people that 20 years ago told me digital video would never match the artistry of film.

They're right IMO. Practical effects still look and age better than (IMO very obvious) digital effects. Oh and digital deaging IMO looks like crap.

But, this will always remain an opinion battle anyway, because quantifying "artistry" is in and of itself a fool's errand.

It's portions internal for sure, but yeah it's happening the whole time basically. Increasingly all elections are becoming nationalized and about national issues rather than something about the actual locality being "served".

Most house politicians spend all of the time they aren't in Washington doing fundraising and other campaign related activities. Some (like AOC) try to actually help their communities during these times and fundraise or organize on that basis.

Our president is now our king, but really it’s only the presidential election that has constant campaigning for the next election.

This isn't really true. Campaigning takes up a large amount of time for even house members. They have two year terms and they spend much of that fending off primary challenges and then campaigning for the general election.

And just like that the concern trolls have aligned on a new attack line.

Awesome song, was just thinking how it makes a really great test for new audio equipment (especially for the mid-bass / bass part of the system).

I think we're all a bit like the f35...lost and running on auto-pilot.
