There is something to that, in that money gained will be kept (unless lawsuits can claw it away for fraud), but with both scenarios the ethically lacking individual would still have enjoyed the time until they were caught and future money/clout would both be hampered.

As for competition, that sounds the same to me. There is already competition for positions and grants, etc.

OK, so money corrupts, money exists, everything is corrupt. What's the point of pointing that out?

That's only because money exists. If you removed money from the equation, clout would be the new currency that everyone lies and cheats for.

This kind of behavior would still exist without money. People would still fake stuff for the clout.

Let's engage in a thought experiment.

If Harris were to have negotiated a $15 minimum wage with Republicans but to do so had to give up the EPA. Would that earn your favor?

Let us assume that giving up the EPA is too much, do you see a world where the Republicans agree to anything while getting anything you are OK with giving up?

Perhaps you and the Republicans share some common wedge issue, do you think you would get any Democratic support for a bill that makes that trade?

Minimum wage is currently a partisan issue, a party that believes it should be increased and a party who doesn't think it should exist. Just keeping it is as is is a negotiation.

If it weren't Trump running I think he would have stepped aside. He believed in 2019, and probably still believes now, that he has the best chance against Trump and that Trump is a singularly existential threat.

Missing the dip before the meeting where you have to prepare for the meeting.

This excited me, until I saw all the reviews about crashes. Hope that gets fixed.

I'm not sure you understand the parent comment. I didn't realize how terrible until I hailed a cab, noticed someone who was actually also hailing but must have been doing so before me, so I deferred and offered the cab I hailed to him. The cabby noticed the person was black and just booked it. The person was resigned and indicated this was not uncommon.

  1. Not having been determined via impeachment proceedings to be barred from office.

  2. Having served less than two terms, however you can serve just under 10 years if you were raised to president more than half way through the term.
