Most likely scenario is they saw you browsing Reddit at work and saw your username on the screen. Reddit leaves the username out on the main page.

Nice. I have one myself so that's why I recognized them. I actually got the first one that had a new non-salvaged from original carts connector. So the entire thing is brand new parts, which was important to me to not destroy an original VB game.

It's worth noting that the link he provided is a decent overview, but it's also really outdated as far as the decompilation community goes. If you're at all interested in getting involved, and not just mildly curious about the high level stuff, most people start with one of two discords.
