still the behavior of a bully. Might work in the short term but in the long term everyone hates the bully regardless if it the ends seem to justify the means.

I'm with you except for the fucking couches part. It was a joke someone on Twitter said that had no basis in reality (AP fact checked), and repeating it, knowing its not true, is the behavior of a bully.

Call him a fascist because that's what he is, not some made up insult with no basis in reality.

I just looked up some of her positions and she does seem a bit more progressive than Biden was. She cosponsored Bernie's medicare for all bill a few years ago and supports marijuana legalization.

I think this whole mess could actually be a net positive for democrats as it reinvigorates enthusiasm ("hope and change", version 2024)

A vegan diet - which only contains plant-based foods - can lead to deficiencies in calcium, iodine and other vital mineral nutrients. This is particularly risky for people who need extra nutrients and for growing children and adolescents. For these reasons, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ernährung (DGE) [German Nutrition Society] advises against following a completely vegan diet.

On a small scale yeah. The sun heats rocks and they're able to store heat for up to an hour or so. Cats can attest to that.

Same with large bodies of water; the ocean, lakes, pools, etc.

It wasn't a personal attack. I could see how it could be read that way but the second sentence was a point of science not insult. It's hard to convey intention in text.

They are just my observations and interactions with vegans, and the science is clear that most vegans have nutritional deficiencies. It is extremely difficult to actually get everything you need without meat, and you essentially have to plan every single meal in a food planner. I know... I've tried it and even planned to a tee it is near impossible to have a balanced diet without meat. I wish it was.

you didn’t know how to wipe your own bum until I taught you. I think I have a handle on 9/11, liberal vs. conservative politics

I agree completely with the one exception being the current aging generation that is so completely brainwashed by Murdock et al, that think the working class are the badies, among other misconceptions...

over 30. I personally prefer more serious discussion because I'm a dork. I'm not into most sports, jokes, video games or other whimsical stuff. I like some of that stuff IRL, but I consider the internet primarily of use for deeper discussion of topics that most people might not necessarily have an interest in. Like NASAs nuclear powered project Orion spacecraft in the 1960s.

Peoples eyes normally glaze over when I talk about that stuff offline, but there are billions online, and usually someone else finds that niche stuff as interesting as me.

It would be nice if you could select which topics interest you rather than having to block every community that does not.

you can’t force Apple to...

very deceptive title from the source author. OP please insert [, the privacy partner, Onerep's ] in place of "its" to make it clear Mozilla didn't do anything wrong here.

Mozilla could do something wrong, but I entirely read this as Mozilla's CEO had ties to data brokers and ditched Mozilla's privacy partner because of that.

So I made a post earlier asking what small community people wished was on Lemmy and the top upvoted suggestion was:

One that shows big machinery. Like cranes, trains, excavators and stuff like that

So a made a sub with that topic and put some relevent pictures. I figure an XKCD style title would keep things light. Feel free to make this your own if this was your interest as I was just trying to plant the seed for some ideas.

Cranes, trains, planes and excavators and stuff like that

Particularly one that you personally would like to post/comment in on a regular basis

We currently have Roku's on our tvs to connect to streaming services and servers but they are infested with advertisements.

Some other comments mentioned Walmart's $20 ONN 4k boxes, but these are android and I don't have the time or knowledge/patience to go through the flashing process on one of those; if there is even a working custom ROM.

Basically we just want a functioning (libre) streaming box. The closest I could find was OSMC's Vero V (just released a few months ago), although it's a little pricey at $160 usd. Are there any other options out there or does anyone have any experience with the Vero V?

Asking being I just had take out about 40 screws and disconnect several board connectors to replace a simple damaged motor gear. Took a few hours for something that could easily take minutes to repair with a little thoughtful manufacturer design.

primarily for small scale DIY

I've been having a lot of lag on lemmy.world lately, moreso during certain times of the day. I'm not sure if this is because of geographic location or just burden on the server.

https://lemmy.fediverse.observer/list shows a list of all servers and their uptime but does not give how long a server has been online. Uptime is a somewhat unreliable measure of reliability because they might have only been online for a day.

https://lemmy.fediverse.observer/map gives the closest server but most local servers have only 1-4 users and there is no way to gauge whether those servers are reliable or trustworthy.

Is there a tool to find the closest server with a reliable uptime over a period of months with at least >100 users?
