Thanks for the quick action!

Happy to see ActivityPods, never heard of it before but was thinking that would be cool!

I don't think they're necessarily meant to be self-hosted, although they can be. The point is to decentralize and take control over your data. Will happily explain more when I sober up :)

Exactly my thoughts!

Some excellent content this week. Some of my highlights:

  • Plex continues its BS, alienating the users who want to actually use their product
  • Fun "fediverse for dummies" writeup

Some really good content in there this week!

  • The Plex monetization continues to be concerning, although it's a good thing they're almost profitable
  • Cloudflare security breach was interesting to read about
  • Morphos server seems like good software - I never thought of self hosting a file converter, but I'm always so sketched out by the free online ones
  • Might finally set up tailscale, who knows!
  • Never heard of watch - always thought I had to write a watcher (e.g. with a node library). That's massively useful honestly

Sucks about VMWare, that's a blow for sure

Again, not my newsletter, just a good community share. Author is on mastadon: https://fosstodon.org/@shollyethan?ref=selfh.st

So happy about the performance fixes for comment images, makes such a huge difference!

I don't remember exactly, it was around 2 years ago. It was easy to set up, but I found the feature set to be lacking some essentials, and I ran into a couple of big bugs. Couldn't really replace my airtable setup yet. Happy to give it another try though!

Anyone used NocoDb recently? Last time I tried to get it running, it was too buggy to be useful

I'm looking to keep track of my watchlist/watched list. Found flox, watcharr, and MediaTracker.

Does anyone have experience with these or other alternatives?

By the way, this isn't my newsletter - I just appreciate it and like sharing it with the community. The owners do use mastadon though: @[email protected]

I think this is new behavior in 1.0.2. If there's a link in a comment, clicking on the link both opens the link AND collapses/expands the comment. In Boost for Reddit (and I believe Lemmy, prior to 1.0.2), when clicking on a link it would just open the link, not collapse the comment.
