I cannot reply to everyone, but genuinely thank you all so much for the help. I'll be going with a simplistic zola setup suggested by one of the commentors. I barely expected a handful, let alone all these comments. It really means a lot, especially to a noob who felt like this was a really dumb question.

Thank you for the advice. Honestly, I'm a young 20 something that just wants to output creative stuff for people to read and enjoy. None of this really popped in my head, so thanks.

I still want to host my own site for it though, but I will consider the self publishing angle as well. Thanks for the advice.

Hey hello, self-hosting noob here. I just want to know if anyone would know a good way to host my writing. Something akin to those webcomic sites, except for writing. Multiple stories with their own "sections" (?) and a chapter selection for each. Maybe a home page or profile page to just briefly detail myself or whatever, I don't know. It doesn't have to be fancy, and I apologize for not knowing how to describe this well. I've just been searching and searching and I don't know what to look up to find what I want, it's extremely frustrating. Any help is greatly appreciated.

He shouldn't have to, the point is read before commenting about a clickbait headline. If he has to spell it out that only furthers his point.

I'm barely in my 20s and I don't even know what a slide deck is lol.

I found it preferable when I started exclusively using the keyboard and keybinds. Tho I ended up using a TWM so I'm definitely not the target audience lol.

Huh? But I use Libretube everyday.

I can acknowledge all that and still say fuck discord. I never mentioned herding everyone over, I just explained why I think it's a parasite and why I have a strong disliking towards it.

Idk about them, but it's a centralized, locked-down service that absorbs and holds information and data hostage like tomorrow.

As someone who's trying to completely avoid Discord, it's quite frustrating how many communities and projects will put important information in their Discords, and nowhere else. You have to have an account to see it, and it also isn't searchable in a search engine. It is actually quite terrible for pretty much everyone.

Element/Matrix lets you peek into public chats and servers/spaces without an account, so it can definitely be done. They won't do it though, because they gotta make you feel dat FOMO lol.

I am a simple man. I see anime rice, I upvote.

Mother 3. I really don't know what else to say, this series impacted me so much in my youth and I wish I got to experience it raw.

Dang, this looks pretty awesome. Too bad it would probably suck for manga.

Thanks, but I decided to go for a 1 liter PC with a 9th gen i7 instead. I can't believe this post is 4 months old lol.

Hey! I'm trying to get into self hosting and was wondering what would be possible with a single Pi, at least until I can get more capable hardware.

The servies I'm interested in would be things like a pihole, music server, photos server, a few personal fediverse instances (mainly owncast), a small Matrix homeserver for my friends, etc, etc. Media server but that's obviously way into the future I think.

While I don't intend or think I can run all of this on one Pi, I just want to know how much is possible. I'm really thankful for any feedback I may get. My apologies for the noobness if I'm completely wrong about all of this.

One last thing, any recommendations on any other services I should try out as a beginner?

Edit: In hindsight, I really do I wish I asked about the ability of sharing these services with people and how that would affect the load and performance. One of my biggest goals is to have this used by family and close friends.
