I used to be limited in my art by the idea of perfectionism. But just start with moving your hand freely. Draw like you're sketching in a notebook. Don't focus on creating perfect lines, but drawing with something like a permanent marker could be a cool activity because you can't erase, so you just keep building on.

Smiling Friends has been a show that's eye opening for me to draw whatever I want because there's no coherent art style.

Just have fun with it. Start with a shape. Give it some arms. Give it some eyes. Maybe a bowtie for personality. Look around the room for random inspirations.

Art should be fun and if you're enjoying it casually, you'll just improve over time the more you do it.

I got a set of greyscale markers; super easy to build shading with those instead of pure black markers.
