Okay I don't really like Cradle of Filth but my husband does. But I really really like their cover of Iron Maiden's "Hallowed Be Thy Name." Somehow the cover has more energy than the original.
If that floats your boat, give Fear of the Dark by Graveworm a listen. Iron Maiden lends itself really well to dark metal.
Rainbow in the dark by Corey Taylor and The Last In Line by Tenacious D. A lot of songs in that Dio tribute album's pretty good.
Yeah that Tenacious D cover is so good. The Halestorm cover on that same album is also a banger. Halestorm in general does great covers, I love their cover of Ride the Lightning
