I don't know if you've ever seen sushi before but typically the rice isn't on the outside.
Maybe you live inside a giant sushi, and topologically this is equivalent to the sushi encompassing the rest of the world, including raw fish.

Actually, the only qualifying factor to be sushi is for something to contain vinegared rice alongside other toppings. The rolled shape is not sushi, it's maki.
But California rolls are that shape?
Honestly I use this to settle all food debates.
Not because I believe it to be true or accurate. Buy because humanity needs answer and here is one!

Hotdogs are tacos and corn dogs are calzones.
I have experienced both as sushi. Also, dumplings are calzones.
