Biden was emerging from his Delaware campaign headquarters when the car ploughed into an SUV guarding his motorcade

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden were rushed to safety by the Secret Service after a car suddenly ploughed into a parked SUV that was guarding the presidential motorcade.

Mr Biden was walking out of his campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, on Sunday night to his waiting armoured SUV when a silver copper sedan hit a US Secret Service vehicle that was closing off intersections for the president’s departure.

The sedan, which carried a Delaware licence plate, then tried to continue into a closed-off intersection, before Secret Service personnel surrounded the vehicle with their weapons drawn and instructed the driver to put his hands up.

Mr Biden was captured looking stunned and froze when he heard the loud bang close by.

  • "whiskey in the jar" meaning POTUS is in the beast.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Mr Biden was walking out of his campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, on Sunday night to his waiting armoured SUV when a silver copper sedan hit a US Secret Service vehicle that was closing off intersections for the president’s departure.

The sedan, which carried a Delaware licence plate, then tried to continue into a closed-off intersection, before Secret Service personnel surrounded the vehicle with their weapons drawn and instructed the driver to put his hands up.

Special Agent Steve Kopek, a Secret Service spokesperson, said in a statement that the vehicle struck had been securing the route for Mr Biden’s motorcade.

The Bidens had spent the night aving a meal with members of his re-election team inside the Biden-Harris 2024 headquarters in downtown Wilmington at the time of the incident, according to a White House press pool report.

The president and first lady had emerged from the headquarters into the rainy downtown area at around 8.07pm, where Dr Biden waved to pool reporters and wished them “Happy Holidays”.

Wilmington Police Department spokesperson David Karas told Axios that local officers were “investigating the motor vehicle collision”.

The original article contains 504 words, the summary contains 185 words. Saved 63%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

For people arguing Biden isn't too old to be president...

This points out he's not spending the next two years just being president, he's running for president at the same time.

It's a shit ton to expect out of someone in their mid 80s.

We'd be better off if he stepped aside and focused on one job he's 20 years too old for instead of fumbling one for two years and now adding another.

At least one of the two will fall behind, maybe both

Name someone who has a better chance to beat Trump.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Bernie, if he chose to run, which it seems he's firmly decided not to. But, if he did, he would (imo of course) probably defeat Biden in the primary, and then completely obliterate the general.

The drive to find a viable "outsider" is stronger than ever, and Bernie has that, while also having a pretty firm lock on the moral high ground to shell Trump from. Biden has unfortunately lost that edge, due to his staunch support for Israel, which many of us consider to be the incorrect position in the modern day and are trying hard to pressure him away from.

I don't think Bernie wants to, though. I think he's okay supporting Biden, all things considered, and is also getting rather old himself. He blazed the trail that other progressives will have to follow to keep that torch aloft, and someday carry it into the presidency.

Bernie would lose a great number of center votes. The guy was praising Chavez and Venezuela not that long ago. It is easy for him to suggest all these programs when he knows there is no way to pay for it.

Have you seen the polls?

Biden isn't the best chance against trump.

trump is the best chance politicians like Hillary and Biden had/have at becoming president

We're 1/2, and polling for round three is a lot worse than last time.

You still didn't name someone. You lose.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Literally any other democrat.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 9 months ago

The poll asked who would you rather vote for. Democrat voters said they would rather vote for “any other democrat”

Quit making stupid arguments and repeating back your MSNBC garbage

[–] [email protected] -1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

According to the recent polls, literally any other democrat.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

That doesn't really follow.

You're saying that no other democrat would poll worse?

So, Jimmy Carter would have a better chance of being elected? Hillary Clinton? My 70-year old rambling uncle?

Your pretending to be dumb, except I don’t think you’re pretending
