Cedar waxwings get drink on fermented mulberries and roll around on the ground.

Fucking love Mexico. I'm not Mexican, but do speak Spanish... Hot dang it's a parade down the street literally every day, everyone is super out-of-their-way friendly, and the things they make are amazing: furniture, glass, textiles.

I would love to live there but the cartel violence is terrifying, as is the lack of water. Also... They don't want me!

Deleted because I should have scrolled down for "Narf!"

I have never been scared of snakes. They aren't spooky, they don't turn my stomach. The phobia has never made sense to me.

But I think if I saw that thing slither by while diving I would get it. Huh.

Weren't science communicators talking about parts of speech in whale communication last year, too? They're using AI to identify patterns and variations in speech.

Here's a general (though older) overview of whale language: https://www.britannica.com/explore/savingearth/the-language-of-whales

Here's a more recent article taking about using AI to identify patterns in speech: https://scitechdaily.com/ai-decodes-sperm-whale-language-revealing-a-complex-system-of-communication/

Sorry, but it just gets more expensive to care for them later. Aim for at least a yearly cleaning/exam so that they can catch issues before they become serious. Twice a year is better.

And find a dentist that is conservative about fillings. My dentist almost never recommends procedures unless there is actual decay, and I trust them to not push work on me that I don't need.

What about sugar-free gum?

... Wait, don't reuse dental floss? Oh no. I thought the point was only to loosen gunk!

I love Bernie, and would have given a kidney for him to have gotten the nomination way back when, but it feels like you just got jumped. Sorry bud.

My old man
He's a singer in the park
He's a walker in the rain
He's a dancer in the dark
We don't need no piece of paper
From the city hall
Keeping us tied and true
No, my old man
Keeping away my blues

Hi all,

I'm attempting to change careers into landscape design/architecture, but I'm struggling to gain professional experience.

I've applied to 4 different job in the field, interviewed at one, but haven't had enough "professional experience" to land any of the jobs. Any tips on how to proceed? I was thinking about keeping my current job while also trying freelance for very nominal pay, but I'm not really sure how to go about that either.

For background, I've been at my current (unrelated) job for 6 years, took a community college class on AutoCAD, did a planting plan for a friend, and put together a portfolio (work in CAD, Photoshop, SketchUp, and physical media). I have some experience with plant nurseries, and a degree in biology. An in-person college architecture program is not option due to distance and expense, and I can't find any online programs. My portfolio gets compliments, but I seem to need more drafting experience.
