Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either [email protected] or [email protected].
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email [email protected]. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

We used to be able to join meetings without needing a camera. A few weeks ago, they decided they wanted to change that. Now we have to be on camera for meetings. So dumb having to dress up when I’m home just for a few meetings spread throughout the day and not being able to zone out when the meeting is pointless and has nothing to do with me because people can now see us.
The reason they gave us was “we’re going remote but YOU are our biggest asset! We don’t want to lose the community among everyone!”
BS, they want to make sure the actual person who was hired is doing the work they were hired for. Which I get, but forcing all departments to do this was dumb. And some department heads aren’t enforcing it, but mine is for some reason. So we’ll be in pointless meetings where I have to sit there at attention while others get to stay off camera because their boss isn’t mandating it.
It used to be something I was happy our company didn’t do unlike other companies.
I used to record myself sitting at the meeting for like 15-20 minutes, then just set that running on a loop.
Just like they did in Speed!

And The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down 2: The Boat That Couldn't Slow Down
This is just like Speed 2 but with a bus instead of a boat.
